It was an ordinary day for Joe Perry as he took his Ducati out for a spin July 15th, while stopped at a red light, he could not have prepared for what was about to happen.
“This woman behind me just didn’t slow down at the light. She was going 25-30 miles per hour and just rear-ended me… Next thing I know, I’m on tarmac looking up at the sky… Everything on the bike from the engine back is smashed up, but I don’t even have a black and blue mark. I can’t believe it. I’m just really lucky,” Perry told Rolling Stone Magazine. (Read More…)

They say hindsight is 20/20, and Steven Tyler would certainly agree with that about the last several months. As Aerosmith wraps up its European tour and prepares to launch the U.S. tour later this summer, Tyler is pumped to be healthy and back at the helm doing what he loves after his accident, injury, surgery, drug problems, rehab stint and band infighting.
In a recent phone interview with the Associated Press, a spry Tyler gushed, “The band has never been better, I’m singing better. It’s been beautiful and I realized when I was taking care of my problems that the band is all I really care about.”
He goes on to talk about his recovery, getting passed the band drama, and what the future holds. Here’s the interview for your reading pleasure!

Boston’s famed Fenway Park is going to play host to two of the biggest bands from Boston - Aerosmith and J. Geils Band. This event will mark the first time the two bands have ever played together.
Steven Tyler and Peter Wolf, singer of the J. Geils Band, made the co-headlining gig announcement together during the Yankees vs Red Sox game at Fenway this past Wednesday night. And while they only slated August 14th as the date, the Boston Globe has hinted a second night is possible depending on first-night ticket sales.
If you are a Boston Red Sox season ticket holder, you get first dibs on Aerosmith tickets. Prices range from $55 to $175, and will be available to the rest of the little people on April 17th.

Steven Tyler recently released a statement that he has entered rehad to seek treatment for a 10-year addiction to prescription painkillers. The Aerosmith frontman apparently has been afflicted with chronic pain for many years, which has only been exacerbated by a rigorous tour schedule and the fall he took a few months ago during a concert in Sturgis, South Dakota.
News reports from Tyler and the other band members the last few months have been very bizarre. Rumors were flying that Tyler was leaving the band to work on “Brand Tyler”, but this report is being chalked up to Tyler not being in a coherent state of mind. There was also some talk about him taking a 2-year hiatus from the band.
Joe Perry didn’t even know what was going on with his long-time friend, and was also under the impression that Tyler quit Aerosmith. He told the Las Vegas Sun, “I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.”
But now that he’s “handling things,” Tyler is clearing the air in his statement, replying, “I wish to set the record straight and say that I read reports of a rumored two-year hiatus and want to be clear that this is completely false and I will enthusiastically be writing, recording and performing with Aerosmith as soon as things are handled.”

While Aerosmith fans may not be able to see the rockers on tour this fall, as frontman Steven Tyler recuperates from an injury sustained in August, they are hearing more and more from guitarist Joe Perry.
According to an interview with The Boston Globe, Tyler said that the band isn’t breaking up , but it’s a great opportunity to take some time off. He’s currently promoting his latest solo album, Have Guitar, Will Travel.
The album is Perry’s fifth, which was recorded in 47 days, and will be released today, Tuesday, October 6th.

Word has finally come down from the Aerosmith camp to pull the plug on the remaining tour dates with ZZ Top. The decision comes after a few agonizing days of deliberating over whether or not frontman Steven Tyler would be able to recuperate properly after his recent accident. Tyler broke his shoulder and cut his head during a performance at Sturgis in South Dakota.
Tickets will be refunded to fans, but great disappointment remains. In the 25 years of touring, Aerosmith has never canceled dates much less abandoned a tour altogether.
In a statement, Joe Perry bemoaned the decision, “Words can’t express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour. I would like to thank our loyal fans for sticking by us through thick and thin and all the good energy they are sending our way.”

Aerosmith frontman, Steven Tyler, is having a string of bad luck and injuries that continally plague his body and the band’s current tour.
Tyler, 61, fell several feet off the stage during a show in Sturgis, South Dakota earlier this week and suffered a broken shoulder and stitches in his head. The singer flew to his own doctor in Boston to have his injuries treated, which forced cancellations of a few additional shows and has left the rest of tour schedule uncertain.
As of this writing, no word has been announced about the rest of the tour from the band or on the band’s official website. Stay tuned!
